This is what some would call it. I call it abject and cowardly surrender. The Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams has all but signed the surrender documents. Perhaps he can rent out Canterbury Cathedral as a falafel stand.
From the BBC:
Dr Rowan Williams told Radio 4’s World at One that the UK has to “face up to the fact” that some of its citizens do not relate to the British legal system.
Dr Williams argues that adopting parts of Islamic Sharia law would help maintain social cohesion. For example, Muslims could choose to have marital disputes or financial matters dealt with in a Sharia court. He says Muslims should not have to choose between “the stark alternatives of cultural loyalty or state loyalty”.
So much for the commonweal, but, hey, that’s an old English word. It used to be that Muslims who emigrated to Britain became British. Now it seems that they must have “social cohesion” by maintaining a separate legal system. They will no longer become British; Britain will become Muslim.
Cast over the side of the sinking ship Britannia is any pretense that all citizens, including Muslim women, enjoy equal rights and dignity.
Christian charity prohibits me writing the words that actually came to mind about the weak-minded archbishop.
